I have successfully met all the criteria required within my choreography. I have critically analysed and evaluated variety of works choreographed by Wayne McGregor, I have looked at both Infra and Wolf Works. From there, I managed to not only analyse them separately however also compare them to each other finding both their similarities and differences. Within my choreography I also used many choreographic devices such as repetition, fragmentation, highlight and climax by having a list of choreographic devices I could use within my choreography made my progress a lot easier due to it giving my a set pathway and ideas in which I could use. In addition, I also used improvisation when choreographing, this was inspired by Wayne McGregor and I found it really helped me find new ideas when I was struggling to choreograph. Within my choreography I used a mixture of both contemporary and ballet styles, in which I got inspiration from Wayne McGregor. I have also drawn a plan of where I move w...

For this choreographer piece I decided to look at Wolf Works Corps choreographed by Wayne McGregor. I found this piece very very chaotic and busy due to the frantic music and the patterns/pathways of the dancers, for example at the beginning of the dance piece the dancers, in pairs, move diagonally across the floor while other duets join in from different angles and directions which confuses the audience. In addition there are many leg and arm extensions from different positions and levels this helps create very abstract movements while still keeping it classical and I think that is Wayne McGregors style, exploring the mixture of ballet and contemporary, which in my options is becoming very popular in today’s industry. The dynamics differ throughout the piece, for example some movements are very soft and subtitle, an example of this would be a developpe or a body gesture, however some moments juxtapose that by them being shape and direct e.g kick. Infra is genuinely more soft and g...

At this moment in my choreography I am at 1 minute 10 seconds. Throughout this entire process I have struggled with time management. When we first started our choreography, my aim was to choreograph at least 1 minute per lesson however this has not happened due to me overthinking and rechoreographed certain parts of my choreography. This hasn’t allowed me to get as far as I wanted to in my choreographer. However, to overcome this over the next coming week I will stay behind after my school hours to ensure I am where I want to be by the time its my performance. I have used creative movement development to relate to my stimulus by using a high amount of floor and low-level work in order to really exaggerate the idea of depression and giving up. An example of this would be me standing up form the floor however immediately falling back down. From this I hope the audience feel a sense of sadness and sympathy. During my performance so far I have introduced fast continues movements which wer...

Due to my focus point of my dance being based around depression, i decided to do research on this mental illness in order to widen my knowledge before choreographing my dance. From this I am hoping it will inspire ways in which I could portray depression through the use of body language and other aspects. First i researched facts and statistics to allow me to come to a realization of how common depression actually is. I was so surprised when i saw that over 300 million people worldwide have to suffer with their own mind everyday. In addition, this number is increasing more than it ever has before due to the increase in social media. People seeing stereotypes - who are stereotypically perfect- on social media everyday through celebrities, magazines and television shows. Being fed this information 24/7 it makes you feel worthless if you don't fit in with these stereotypes and could lead to bully either online or during day to day life. 35% of people who suffer with depression don...
