Week 6- Choreographers Piece

Image
I decided to focus on Wayne McGregor’s Infra due to it capturing different choreography and dance styles. Infra is a Greek word which actually means ‘below’. Wayne McGregor uses this as his main stimulus and idea for his dnace and ideas behind his choreography to help demonstrate the meaning behind his dance. The meaning behind is dance is looking beneath the surface of a city and how things are there that day to day people ignore or don’t recognise. The context of Wayne McGregor’s dance came from the London bombings in 2007 and the particular feelings everybody felt during this time and how everyone came together as a country in order to support one another during this period of time. He then focused on how time had dramatically changed and we no longer worry or care for other strangers anymore due to us being very highly populated and being individual. An example of this would be public transport, no one talks to anyone due to us being focused on our needs and where we need to be b...

Week 6 - Finalizing our choreography ideas

Image
This week we looked at finalizing our idea for our choreography, and how we were going to portray this idea clearly to our audience. For my final idea, i want to focus on the cogs and how they have to be arranged perfectly in order to function, however, if one cog is broken or stuck, then they all can't process and work in a productive way. I wanted to relate this to society by showing how societies normalities affect people mentally. For example how doing the same routine everyday 7 days a week can have an impact on somebodies mentality and in severe cases lead to mental health issues such as depression. Especially if they don't enjoy school or their job yet being forced to go due to socials rights and needing money to not only supply for themselves but also their family. I also want this to be the narrative within my choreography. For my music choice I have selected three I really like the rhythm and message off as they link to my stimuli and narrative. Personally i chose...

blog- week 5 - BTUK- Lucy Imamzade

This week, we looked at the set stimuli for our choreography pieces and, in pairs, wrote down ideas we could relate to each picture. The first stimuli we looked at was the Landscape here we came up with ideas such as the world ending/ dying due to a development in technology and power which could be a reason for repetition of war. From here we thought of emotions that may correlate with these emotive ideas such as lonely, sad, lost, isolated and empty.   We wrote down these emotions to help us create and tell a story within our dance, so it has an affect on the audience. We also said it looked very polluted and it also reminded me of the movie ‘A Boy in The Stripped Pjs’ rom here we could get an understanding of what it must feel like living during that time due to that movie being very real and emotive. The second stimuli we looked at was a girl holding a gun, automatically I thought of stereotypes and how its unusual to see a young innocent girl holding a gun however I ...

Blog - Week 4 - BTUK - Lucy Imamzade

This week, we looked at the movement of water and more specifically rain. We looked at how we could mimic its features in order to create a short sequence through the use of improvisation. First, I looked at the random drops of rain sliding along the glass windows, to replicate this, I used small and fragile movements with sudden but small outburst of energy. An example of this would be sharp head or arm movements. This clearly demonstrate how one raindrop gathers energy and starts to slowly move down the wet window. Personally, I really struggled to improvise these movements without repeating myself and without having a story to improvise too. However, to overcome this I focused on how rain makes me feel in order to develop my improvisation. By myself I came up with sad, unmotivated and tired, I represented this by doing small movements and a lot of floor work. Next I focused on other raindrops interacting with a singular raindrop for example they may meet gain weight and fa...
